Privacy policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
This policy explains what personal information The Workroom Company (operated by The Workroom Company LLC) collects when you visit theworkroomcompany.com, order swatches or curtains, or contact us, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Personal information we collect
Information you give us
- Order and account information: your name, email address, shipping and billing address, phone number if you provide one, and what you order, including the sizes, pleat and options of each curtain and the room or window name you add to it.
- Payment information: payments are handled entirely by Shopify's secure checkout and the payment provider you choose (Shopify Payments, including Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, or PayPal, including Venmo). We never see or store your full card number.
- Customer support information: what you send us by email, phone, chat or through our contact form, including any photos or measurements you share.
- Reviews: if you review a product, your review, the name you give, and any photo you add.
- Email updates: your email address, if you sign up for our emails.
Information collected automatically
When you browse, our site and its service providers collect device and usage information — pages viewed, items added to your cart, purchases, browser and device type, and approximate location from your IP address — using cookies and similar technologies.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and your browser's local storage for what the site needs to work — your cart and swatch box, the measurements you save in our measuring guide, the curtains you recently viewed, and your sign-in session — and for the advertising measurement described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some features, such as your cart, may then not work.
Analytics and advertising
- Google Analytics and Google Ads (through Shopify's Google & YouTube app) record page views, items added to your cart, checkouts and purchases, so we can understand how the site is used and measure the results of our ads on Google. You can manage Google's personalized ads in your Google ad settings, and read how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Microsoft Advertising (Universal Event Tracking) records page views and purchases so we can measure the results of our ads on Bing. You can manage Microsoft's personalized ads in your Microsoft ad settings.
- Ad click measurement: when you arrive from one of our ads, the ad's click identifier and the page you first visited are kept in your browser for up to 90 days and sent with your order, so we can tell the ad network (Google or Microsoft) which ads led to a purchase. We report the purchase and its value to that network from our own systems.
- Shopify, which runs our store, collects usage data to operate and secure the site and checkout.
How we use your personal information
- Make and deliver your order: making each curtain to your measurements, shipping and delivering it, and handling remakes and refunds.
- Communicate with you: order confirmations, shipping updates, and replies to your questions.
- Marketing: if you opted in, our email updates. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Improve the site: understanding what shoppers look for and fixing what doesn't work.
- Fraud prevention and security: protecting our store and customers from fraudulent transactions.
- Legal compliance: keeping the records required for tax, accounting, and legal obligations.
Sharing your personal information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the store:
- E-commerce platform: Shopify, which hosts our store, checkout and customer accounts.
- Payment processors: Shopify Payments and PayPal.
- Our workroom: the manufacturing partner that makes, packs and labels your curtains and swatches receives the order details it needs, including the name and address on your shipping label.
- Shipping carriers: to deliver your order and provide tracking.
- Email delivery: the providers that send our order and marketing emails.
- Product reviews: Judge.me, which hosts the reviews on our product pages.
- Analytics and advertising: Google and Microsoft, as described above.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it or to protect our rights.
Data retention
We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounting, tax, and legal purposes. Other personal information is kept only as long as it is useful for the purposes above, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
Security of your data
Our store and checkout run on Shopify, which encrypts data in transit and is PCI DSS compliant for card payments. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we limit access to your information to what making and delivering your order requires.
