Fabric details

FabricBQ-05

Kendall is a yarn-dyed broad basket weave with a bold, pebbled surface. Chunky, nubby yarns sit in a clear basket grid, and the raised yarns catch a little more light than the ground between them, so each color has a two-tone, almost stony depth. From across the room it reads as a rich, textured solid, and it hangs in deep, weighty folds.

Our blackout fabrics are woven tightly enough to block the light themselves, so there is no liner. Many blackout curtains add a stiff liner; ours stay soft and flexible.

Ready-made: a leading retailer's woven panel with a sewn-in blackout liner, 48″ × 96″, its nearest size. Custom workroom: a designer custom maker's woven pinch-pleat panel with a blackout liner, 50″ × 96″. List prices from their product pages, November 2026.

Navy with texture and true blackout

Navy Kendall was the right call for our media room. The chunky basket texture keeps the dark color from disappearing, and the panels block the side-window light that used to wash out the screen.

Stone has beautiful depth

Stone looks almost pebbled in daylight. The raised yarns create tiny shadows, which gives a neutral curtain more presence without adding a print. The weight also helps the folds stay very even.

Cocoa is rich and substantial

Cocoa is rich and substantial, and the broad weave is more visible than it appeared online. I love it in our bedroom, but I would recommend a swatch if you prefer a smoother, quieter surface.

FAQs

The answers people ask us most. Still unsure? Talk to a person.

support@theworkroomcompany.com

How do I measure?

Measure your rod tip to tip, ignoring the finials, and divide by the number of panels. Fullness is sewn in, so don't add any. For length, measure from the eye of a ring straight down to the floor. On a track, measure from the top of the track to the floor and subtract 1″. Read the measuring guide

Which pleat should I choose?

The pleat is the sewn top of the curtain. Double pinch is the classic and is included in the base price. Triple pinch is fuller and more formal, tailored pleats are clean and modern, and box pleats sit flat and crisp.

Can I see the colors first?

Yes. Order up to 5 free swatches of the real fabric and see the colors in your own light. They're yours to keep.

What do the light levels mean?

Every curtain sits on a four-step scale from sheer to blackout. Kendall is blackout: it blocks the daylight.

What if my floor isn't level?

Panels arrive with adjustable hooks already on. Raise or lower a panel at its hooks to level the hem.

Do I need tiebacks?

They're optional: one per panel, in the same fabric, $19 each. Kendall is made unlined.

When will it arrive, and can I cancel?

It's made to order and delivered in 2–3 weeks. Cancel free within 12 hours; after that, a 25% fee covers the fabric and labor already committed. Because it's sewn to your size there are no returns, but any defect is replaced.
