Fabric details

FabricCA-05

Ottilie is a double-sided jacquard chenille with a soft, plush face and a gentle sheen. A faint, crinkled grain runs down the cloth, so the surface catches light in fine streaks up close and reads as a smooth, calm color from across the room. It hangs in full, rounded folds.

Our velvets and chenilles block the light themselves, with no liner. Many blackout curtains add a stiff liner; ours stay soft and fall like the cloth.

Ready-made: a leading retailer's velvet panel with a blackout liner, 48″ × 96″, its nearest size. Custom workroom: a designer custom maker's velvet pinch-pleat panel with a blackout liner, 50″ × 96″. List prices from their product pages, November 2026.

Powder Blue solved the sunrise

Powder Blue Ottilie made our bedroom feel calmer and finally solved the early sunrise problem. The chenille is plush without looking fuzzy, and the blackout weight gives the pleats a very full shape.

Blush with a gentle sheen

I chose Blush for a reading room and love the fine crinkled grain. It catches just a little light across the folds, so the color feels layered rather than flat or shiny.

Rich Ivory hangs beautifully

Rich Ivory is warm and substantial, not a bright hotel white. The panels block the light well and hang in soft, rounded columns. They are heavy enough that I would double-check the hardware before ordering a very wide size.

FAQs

The answers people ask us most. Still unsure? Talk to a person.

support@theworkroomcompany.com

How do I measure?

Measure your rod tip to tip, ignoring the finials, and divide by the number of panels. Fullness is sewn in, so don't add any. For length, measure from the eye of a ring straight down to the floor. On a track, measure from the top of the track to the floor and subtract 1″. Read the measuring guide

Which pleat should I choose?

The pleat is the sewn top of the curtain. Double pinch is the classic and is included in the base price. Triple pinch is fuller and more formal, tailored pleats are clean and modern, and box pleats sit flat and crisp.

Can I see the colors first?

Yes. Order up to 5 free swatches of the real fabric and see the colors in your own light. They're yours to keep.

What do the light levels mean?

Every curtain sits on a four-step scale from sheer to blackout. Ottilie is blackout: it blocks the daylight.

What if my floor isn't level?

Panels arrive with adjustable hooks already on. Raise or lower a panel at its hooks to level the hem.

Do I need tiebacks?

They're optional: one per panel, in the same fabric, $19 each. Ottilie is made unlined.

When will it arrive, and can I cancel?

It's made to order and delivered in 2–3 weeks. Cancel free within 12 hours; after that, a 25% fee covers the fabric and labor already committed. Because it's sewn to your size there are no returns, but any defect is replaced.
